Marcus Rich *

Chairman, PPA and CEO, TI Media

Marcus joined Time Inc. UK in March 2014 as CEO. Prior to taking up his role at Time Inc., Marcus worked at Associated Newspapers from February 2009 as Managing Director of The Mail on Sunday and Deputy Managing Director of the Daily Mail before taking up the role of Commercial Managing Director, DMG Media, publisher of the Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday, Mailonline and Metro. Previously, Marcus worked at Emap for 16 years and in that time was the Group Managing Director of Emap Lifestyle Magazines and Emap Advertising. He also ran Emap’s Australian and US businesses. Before Emap, Marcus worked in advertising as a Group Account Director at McCann Erickson, and ran Optimus Communications.

Barry McIlheney *

Chief Executive, PPA

Barry McIlheney began his career in magazines at IPC's Melody Maker before being appointed Editor of Smash Hits and going on to become launch Editor of Empire, Publishing Director of emap's music and film titles, and then Managing Director of emap metro. In 1999, he led the launch of heat magazine and later that year moved to Paris to oversee the launch of FHM France. He returned to the UK in 2000 as Chief Executive of emap elan, the company's women's magazine division, and in 2003 became Editor-in-Chief of emap consumer media. Barry was appointed CEO of the PPA on February 1, 2010. Barry sits on the Boards of the ABC, the Advertising Association, the Advertising Standards Board of Finance, the European Magazine Media Association, FIPP, and the Publishers Audience Measurement Company (PAMCo).

James Tye *

Deputy Chairman, PPA and CEO, Dennis Publishing

James joined Dennis Publishing in October 1992 and spent six years on the editorial teams of various titles, including the editorship of market-leading PC Pro. In 1998, he became a Publisher. He joined the Executive Board in 2000 as Operations Director and became Divisional Managing Director for Dennis’s Technology Division in 2004. In the same year he oversaw the launch of the Dennis Gambling Division. He became CEO of Dennis Publishing Ltd in January 2006. He became PPA Chairman on January 1, 2016.

Marcus Arthur

President, BBC Worldwide UK & ANZ

Marcus oversees a number of businesses including the company’s 50% ownership of UKTV (a joint venture with Scripps Networks Interactive); TV sales; consumer products; digital and physical publishing; live events; BBC Worldwide Learning and clips licensing business that is a joint venture with Getty. Marcus also oversees the BBC Worldwide’s Australia and New Zealand businesses that comprise various licencing and sales ventures and the newly-launched drama channel BBC First. Recently Marcus also assumed responsibility for Global Advertising on and BBC World News with teams based in the UK, USA, Asia, S. Africa and ANZ. Prior to this Marcus was MD, Global Brands, where his business worked in conjunction with other departments to drive greater value from BBC Worldwide's leading international and multi-format properties including Top Gear, Dancing With the Stars, Doctor Who and BBC Earth. Marcus began his career in advertising sales for Redwood Publishing, joining BBC Worldwide in 1991, when the BBC's commercial arm took over the business. In 1997 he moved from Group Advertisement Manager of Lifestyle titles to become Publisher of this group, adding Top Gear, Natural History and Music titles to his portfolio over the following three years. In 2000 he completed a two-year MBA at Ashridge Business School. Marcus joined the BBC Magazines Board at the end of 2001 and the BBC Haymarket Exhibitions Board a year later. In 2002 Marcus moved over to publish the Radio Times as Publishing Director, in 2005 Marcus was promoted to Managing Director, BBC Magazines (London) and two years later, Marcus took responsibility for the transformation of a number of BBC Worldwide magazine titles to the web, overseeing delivery of the infrastructure for all BBC Worldwide's passion sites.

Tim Brooks *

Chairman, PPA Business

A journalist by training, Tim fell into publishing when he launched his own magazine business in 1985. Subsequently he served on the boards of Emap Business Communications, IPC Media, Time Inc South Pacific, and Guardian Media Group, before joining BMJ as CEO in October 2012. He has managed media properties as diverse as the Guardian, InStyle, and New Civil Engineer. Tim serves on the UK Cabinet Office Digital Advisory Board, and the British Library Advisory Council. He is chairman of NLA media access Ltd, the company that manages copyright licensing on behalf of UK national and regional newspapers and consumer magazines. He was Visiting Fellow in Strategy at London Business School, 2011-12.

Tom Bureau *

CEO, Immediate Media Co

Tom was Co-founder and CEO of digital start-up Silicon Media Group from 1998 to 2002. When was acquired by CNET Networks, Tom launched CNET Networks UK as Group MD and VP from 2002 to 2007. By 2007 he had developed the company into the UK’s biggest online media publisher, with a reach of 10m unique users, generating significant digital revenues and profits. After a period of consulting with various private equity funds, Tom joined cross-media business Magicalia as CEO in mid-2008, working with Exponent Private Equity, and became CEO of the newly-created Immediate Media Co in 2011.

Zillah Byng-Thorne

CEO, Future

Zillah Byng-Thorne became CEO of Future plc in April 2014. She joined Future in November 2013 as Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Future, Zillah was Chief Financial Officer of Trader Media Group, one of Europe's largest multimedia publishers, serving latterly as interim CEO until July 2013. Prior to this, Zillah was Finance Director of Fitness First Group Ltd, and prior to that she was CFO of the Thresher Group. Zillah has also previously held senior finance positions with GE Capital and HMV Media Group, and qualified as an accountant with Nestlé UK Ltd. Zillah is a non-executive director of both Mecom and Betfair Group plc.

Natasha Christie-Miller

CEO, Ascential Intelligence

Natasha Christie-Miller, CEO, Ascential Intelligence, leads the digital intelligence brands WGSN, Glenigan, Groundsure, Planet Retail/Retail Net Group, DeHavilland and world-class content and events brands Retail Week and World Retail Congress. She is building these core, high growth products in scale industries delivering high value intelligence and connections for Ascential’s powerful, professional audiences. She started her career in sales and led the commercial teams on consumer brands including Elle, Red and the Emap parenting portfolio before taking on the role of Publishing Director of Drapers, the fashion industry bible, at Emap B2B in 2005. She then became Managing Director for the Retail portfolio in 2007. Natasha was appointed CEO of Emap in 2010 and a divisional CEO at Ascential in 2015. Natasha is a Director of the Professional Publishers Association and a Non-Executive Director of Proven Growth and Income Plc.

Kevin Costello

CEO, Haymarket Media Group

As CEO of Haymarket Media Group, Kevin oversees the company’s divisions in the UK, Germany, India, Hong Kong and the US. Kevin began his career in publishing as a graduate entrant at Reed Business Information and then moved into advertising where he spent fours years in a range of different roles. Kevin joined Haymarket as a temporary consultant in 1994 and 22 years later, he's still there. Kevin has enjoyed a wide and varied range of roles across the Group, including Business and Consumer Media, live events and overseeing the growth of Haymarket Network. As CEO, Kevin is responsible for driving the growth of Haymarket Media Group internationally. He is also responsible for leading Haymarket's engagement with the Richmond Education and Enterprise Partnership. As well as Deputy Chairman of the PPA, Kevin is also on the board of magazine sales and distribution company Frontline.

Trevor Fenwick

Executive Chairman, Euromonitor International

Trevor has more than 30 years' experience of the global business information market as Managing Director of Euromonitor International plc, the leading publisher of market research analysis and reference databases and online information systems servicing the global business and academic research markets. Euromonitor operates from offices in London, Chicago, Singapore, Shanghai and Vilnius.

Rob Munro-Hall *

Group MD, Magazine Media, Bauer Media

Rob leads Bauer Media’s UK magazine business: a portfolio of over 50 magazines, which sell 70m copies a year, comprising some of the UK’s best-loved titles: Grazia, Empire, heat, Motor Cycle News, CAR, Garden News and Angling Times. Rob joined the business (formerly emap) in 1990 as Editor of MCN (Motor Cycle News), after various editorial posts on national newspapers, including The Sun and Daily Star. He moved on to edit Carweek and CAR and then assumed a number of publishing roles before becoming Managing Director of the emap Bikes portfolio. He left this role in 2003 to head up emap Australia, which he built into one of the country's most successful and admired publishers. He returned to London in 2006 to head up the men's, music and film portfolios. He then ran Bauer Media’s Specialist division for six years, before Bauer Media’s magazine media brands were combined into one new business and Rob was appointed to his new and expanded role, in September 2015.

Kevin Petley

Business Director, HELLO!

Kevin Petley became Business Director of HELLO! in June 2015, following six months of consultancy with the business owners in Madrid. Previously operating as a publishing consultant, Kevin has worked with a number of publishers including Future, across a range of business development areas and as part of their reorganisation programmes. Kevin has also held senior publishing and digital positions with Trader Media Group, one of Europe’s largest multimedia publishers, as Circulation & Marketing Director of specialist publisher Paragon, as well as Client Director of distributor Seymour.

Charles Reed *

Group Managing Director, William Reed Business Media

Charles is Group Managing Director of William Reed Business Media, providers of business information covering the food, drink and hospitality sectors and additionally, since May 2009, pharmaceuticals and cosmetic design. The business, established in 1861, is a fifth-generation family-owned company employing 300 people in its head office near Gatwick and a further 50 in Montpellier. William Reed Business Media produces and organises a wide portfolio of market-leading magazines, exhibitions, events, data, digital and related activities.

Nicolas Sennegon

Global Managing Director and Chief Revenue Officer, The Economist Group

With an academic background in translation and interpretation, Nicolas Sennegon started his career as a Diplomat with different positions in French Embassies in London and then in Wellington (New Zealand). Back to France in 1999, his first job in media was as Junior Sales Executive in Classified Advertising at the IHT (ex International New York Times) in Paris. From 2000 to 2007, Nicolas gained stronger sales experience in the world of television at CNBC Europe to end as a Senior Account Director, with management of key accounts like Rolex. The launch of FRANCE24 - the French International TV Channel - gave Nicolas the opportunity to take a new step in his career with management: he developed the EMEA sales team with a network of 30 sales agents and brought in new international clients, including Shell and Breitling. He joined The Economist Group in July 2008 to lead the Southern Europe (Paris and Geneva sales teams) sales team to gain market share and grow revenue. In September 2011, Nicolas made a new step and moved from sales to marketing with a manager role across CEMEA. This move has marked a major change in his career with both sales and marketing experience. In the last couple of years, he has developed his marketing role and experienced further sales management in new markets like the UK. In April 2014, Nicolas became Chief Revenue Officer across the EMEA region and Global Head of Client Marketing. Since February 2015, he has joined the Management Committee of The Economist Global Media Businesses as Global Managing Director, Chief Revenue Officer. Nicolas is married with 3 daughters.

Mike Soutar

Executive Chairman, Shortlist Media

Mike Soutar is Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Shortlist Media Ltd, the publisher behind premium, free magazines ShortList and Stylist as well as digital brands Emerald Street and Mr Hyde. The company has won more than 60 major industry awards since it was established as an independent start-up in summer 2007 with five employees. It now has over 140 full-time employees and provides part-time employment for more than 600 merchandisers every week across Britain. Mike and the company appeared in an episode of The Apprentice during its 2011 run and Mike has featured as one of Lord Sugar’s advisors in the interview episodes every year since. Over a 30-year career, Mike has worked for a variety of media companies on both the editorial and management side, in print, digital and broadcasting, and in the UK and America.

Andria Vidler

CEO, Centaur Media

Andria joined Centaur Media as CEO in 2013. Under her leadership, Centaur Media has transformed from a traditional publishing and events company to a content and insight-led business information group based on driving consumer focus and digital innovation. From August 2009 to July 2013, Andria was CEO of EMI Music UK & Ireland where she successfully transformed the business into a high margin global rights management enterprise. Between April 2008 and August 2009, she was CMO of Bauer Media, where, as part of the UK management team, she was responsible for building Bauer Media brands to generate greater profitability across a portfolio of 53 magazines, 23 radio stations and all online products. Andria was MD of Magic FM & National Radio from June 2005 to April 2008. Prior to that, she held a number of managerial, operational and marketing roles at the BBC and Capital Radio. Andria is a Council Member for Marketing Group of Great Britain, a member of Tech London Advocates, an advisory group of tech experts, and was recently appointed Non-Executive Director of Jackpotjoy.

James Wildman *

President and CEO, Hearst Magazines UK

President and CEO James joined Hearst Magazines UK as its President and CEO in April 2017 and has overall management responsibility for the company. He has worked in the media industry for over twenty years and has a wealth of experience transforming media companies. James joins Hearst from Trinity Mirror where he was Chief Revenue Officer from 2014 with responsibility for all commercial revenue across the group. He led the commercial teams through transformational change and Trinity Mirror won Campaign magazine’s ‘Best Newsbrand and Magazine Sales Team’ award in 2016 in recognition of the success delivered. From 2011, James was Yahoo’s Managing Director, UK & Ireland, responsible for leading Yahoo’s biggest market outside the US. Prior to that, he spent six years as Managing Director of Virgin Media’s television sales house, ids.
