Magazine production is a complex process that has undergone massive change in recent years, driven by technological developments. Current production processes are almost unrecognisable from those employed just a decade ago. It is now the norm for magazine pages to be produced by publishers as PDFs which are then digitally transferred into printers’ online scheduling tools. Plates are created directly from these digital files which are then loaded into presses. PPA works closely with the printing industry to innovate in the exchange of information.
