National Federation of Retail Newsagents supports Scottish School Magazine Competition

The National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) in Scotland has pledged support for the Scottish School Magazine Competition for the next two years. Scottish President John Currie said: "The NFRN is proud to be sponsoring the PPA Scottish School Magazine Competition for 2008 and 2009. Schoolchildren are key customers so we are delighted to have the opportunity to reward those showing flair and creativity. We wish the best of luck to all entrants and look forward to celebrating their successes."

PPA Scotland chairman David Riddell welcomed NFRN to the growing number of industry suppliers who have become involved with this important competition which aims to encourage youngsters to consider the magazine publishing industry as a career choice.

TESS is the media partner for the Scottish School Competition

The Times Educational Supplement Scotland (TESS) has become the media partner for the Scottish School Magazine Competition. TESS is the pre-eminent publication for teachers, education managers and all involved with schools and further education colleges throughout Scotland.

PPA Scotland is aware that many pupils do not know much about the printing and publishing industry. It is important to capture the interest and enthusiasm of school children before they take decisions about college and university courses and TESS is ideally placed to work with PPA Scotland in communicating the message.

This competition is promoted by PPA Scotland and sponsored by Determined to succeed.

Determined to Succeed, the Scottish Executive’s strategy for enterprise in education, goes to the heart of the vision for a smart, successful Scotland. It aims to help Scotland’s young people develop self-confidence, self-reliance and ambition so they realise their potential in work and in life. PPA Scotland is grateful to the Determined to Succeed team for their generous support of this competition.
