Day one: Charles Arthur

(i) The dynamics of circulation

  • understanding the business drivers that shape circualtion strategy

(ii) Circulation methods

  • Recognising the differences between consumer and business to business circulation management, considering the major delivery mechanisms and understanding the role each plays.

(iii) Delivering the circulation

  • Reviewing activities that are fundamental to achieving an effective circulation strategy

(iv) Managing the circulation function

  • Understanding the financial and human resource requirements to maintain an efficient and productive circulation operation

Day two: Terry Grimwood

(i) The newstrade supply chain

  • The route from publisher to consumer
(ii) The negotiating cycle
  •  Relationships and dynamics within the supply chain
(iii) Planning
  •  Putting together a newstrade strategy
(iv) Data
  •  Interpretation and action going forward
(v) Retail displays
  • The impact of display permutations on front cover design
(vi) The publisher/distributor relationship
  •     Getting the best out of distributors or distribution departments
