Hearst UK appoints Julia Goodwin Director of Homes
Hearst UK has appointed former House Beautiful Editor Julia Goodwin to the role of Director of Homes.
Ellie Austin scored a job at Immediate Media as a Features Writer for Radio Times after graduating from the Magazine Journalism MA course at City University. Here she talks about working in the fast-paced world of a major weekly magazine and the power of a good coffee.
In her new role, Goodwin will assume strategic responsibility for Hearst’s Homes Group, which includes Country Living, House Beautiful and ELLE Decoration.
She will draw on the knowledge and expertise built during her 11 years as award-winning Editor of House Beautiful, where she led the development of successful commercial brand extensions including a range of sofas and beds with DFS, a selection of blinds, curtains and fabrics with Hillarys, and a premier collection of custom-built houses with Futureform.
Sharon said: "Julia Goodwin is a homes expert through and through and has that magical combination of brilliant editorial expertise combined with a strong commercial instinct. Having edited House Beautiful for the past 11 years, she has an in-depth knowledge of the sector, strong client relationships and lots of experience developing successful brand extensions. I’m very much looking forward to working with Julia as we strive to further diversify our revenues.”
As well as the Homes Group, Hearst has brought Good Housekeeping, Red and Prima under a Lifestyle Group. It will announce the Executive Editors of the individual Lifestyle and Homes titles in due course.
