Condé Nast Britain appoints Sabine Vandenbroucke as Chief Operating Officer
Condé Nast Britain has appointed Sabine Vandenbroucke to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Ellie Austin scored a job at Immediate Media as a Features Writer for Radio Times after graduating from the Magazine Journalism MA course at City University. Here she talks about working in the fast-paced world of a major weekly magazine and the power of a good coffee.
She will report to new Managing Director Albert Read and her chief duties include direct oversight of finance, legal, IT, production, property and editorial business.
Read commented: “Vandenbroucke has extensive experience in shaping and implementing strategy in a transformational media environment, in addition to day to day management across diverse business operations. With this appointment Condé Nast Britain is well placed to drive extensive and sustainable growth, also ensuring the greatest efficiencies.”
Vandenbroucke is currently the Chief Financial Officer at Winkorp, the Switzerland-based parent company of Monocle and Winkreative. She joined Winkreative in 2005 as Chief Financial Officer, assuming a position on the company’s board a few years later.
In addition, she is in charge of investor relations and acquisitions, as well as serving as Chief of Operations for the company’s publishing arm, which she helped to establish.
The Belgian native speaks four languages and studied business engineering and philosophy before completing her MBA at INSEAD. Vandenbroucke previously held international executive positions in Cologne, Maastricht and Paris.
She splits her time between Winkreative’s head office in Zürich and its London office and creative studio at Midori House in Marylebone.
Of her new role, she said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Condé Nast, a publisher I’ve long admired, with its authoritative, exciting and entertaining media brands, and I’m looking forward to playing a key part in driving the business forward. It’s a dynamic climate and one in which Condé Nast is strategically positioning itself to maximise growth potential.”
Vandenbroucke will take up her position as COO on 25 September.
This marks the second significant appointment made by Albert Read in his new role as Managing Director. Simon Gresham Jones will join Condé Nast as Chief Digital Officer in September.
