2017 PPA Customer Direct Awards winners announced
The annual PPA Customer Direct Conference and Awards took place on November 16 at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel for the third year running.
Ellie Austin scored a job at Immediate Media as a Features Writer for Radio Times after graduating from the Magazine Journalism MA course at City University. Here she talks about working in the fast-paced world of a major weekly magazine and the power of a good coffee.
The night, hosted by comedian Suzi Ruffell, awarded accolades to direct and digital marketing professionals across 13 categories.
Now in its 20th year, the PPA Customer Direct Awards started out as a lunchtime event before it turned into the black tie evening affair it is known as today.
“These particular Awards celebrate the very best direct and digital marketing professionals in magazine media and it is genuinely exciting to see such truly innovative work right across the entire spectrum," said PPA CEO Barry McIlheney on the night. “Our judges – as always – had a very difficult time in choosing the winners for these hotly contested awards.”
For a full list of the winners, head over to the PPA Customer Direct website. The following were highly commended in their respective categories:
- Offline Marketing Campaign of the Year Highly Commended: Pellpax gift incentive, Air Gunner magazine, Archant
- Best Use of Data Highly Commended: Christmas Launch Email Campaign 2016, Hearst Magazines UK
This year, we invited shortlisted nominees to pick the music they would like to walk up to if they won an award. The eclectic range of songs included: “Shots” by LMFAO featuring Lil Jon, “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers, “Bicycle Race” by Queen, “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift and “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” by Michael Jackson. Some of the winners are easily identifiable by their choice and their clear dedication to the brand.
The overarching theme that came out of the Customer Direct Conference was – like all good relationships – building relationships with customers and subscribers requires time and attention. They have to be worked at so they can flourish – and that is exactly what the PPA Customer Direct Conference and Awards works to promote and encourage.
