The winners of this year's PPA Data & Digital Publishing Awards were unveiled at a ceremony at The Brewery on September 26.

    Judges Comments : The judges said that this is a fantastically well-executed app that creates a real digital buzz. It’s a fantastic brand extension and a great use of data combining a strong social element with unique cross-platform sponsorship opportunities

    Judges Comments : The judges were impressed with this innovative product that ticks a lot of real life experience boxes, giving the results added credibility, in such a competitive market place

    Highly Commended : BBC Good Food, BBC Worldwide/Immediate Media Co.

    Judges Comments : Dennis Publishing approached this title with real intelligence to produce an elegant, focussed digital edition that has delivered a strong return on investment. By putting the business model ahead of the technology, they have gone on to create something that truly stands out from the competition

  • Digital Publisher of the Year (Business Media)

    Estates Gazette, Reed Business Information

    Judges Comments : The judges congratulated Estates Gazette for leading through innovation. The big decision –to dramatically transform all services to allow readers to consume the content across different platforms – resulted in great subscriber renewal rates and large increases in traffic

  • Digital Publisher of the Year (Consumer Media)

    Future Publishing

    Judges Comments : Always ahead of the pack, Future continues to impress, through developing its own in-house video production capability and app creation software, to the use of video advertising and interactive tablet editions. A well-deserved recipient of Consumer Media Digital Publisher of the Year

  • Directory of the Year (Business Media)

    MIMS app, Haymarket Business Media

    Judges Comments : This well designed app, with a good pricing strategy and an attractive interface, has proved a popular platform for existing users, as well as widening the app’s audience. The judges were particularly impressed by the instant accessibility, with no internet connection required

  • Directory of the Year (Consumer Media)

    KC Colour Pages, KC Information Services

    Judges Comments : Despite its established value as a printed directory, KC saw an opportunity to maximise value and increase reach by running the directory in tandem with its online service colourpages.com. In doing so, KC introduced an app, as wellas use of QR codes and video, and an online review facility, whilst still maintaining their ‘local’ theme across all platforms. KC has enjoyed great user feedback on it’s easy-to use site in an extremely challenging local search market

  • IT Development Team Of The Year

    Dennis Interactive Tech & Design Team, Denis Publishing

    Judges Comments : The Dennis Interactive Tech & Design Team has used competitor experience to their advantage by entering the digital arena at a late stage. The judges were impressed by their use of open-source solutions and sensible technology as well as their development methodology, utilising a clean and agile approach

  • Marketing Team Of The Year

    Judges Comments : The judges were impressed by the clear direction of estatesgazette.com, offering a great customer experience and leveraging new and traditional channels with excellent results. Efforts like this have turned what could have been a dying brand into a future-proof business

  • Newcomer of the Year

    Duedil

    Judges Comments : The Newcomer of the Year Award is judged and awarded by directors of the PPA Business Group who this year were unanimous in agreeing it should go to the entrepreneurial data start-up, Duedil. Formed just three years ago, Duedil has won plaudits for augmenting Company House records with data from a variety of open sources to provide more than 30 billion data points on every company and director in the UK. “It’s made Company House data more comprehensive, easier to access and more informative – it’s a real boon in due diligence searches,” said one PPA Business director.   • Outstanding Team Leadership of the Year
