EU Data Protection Regulation
On January 25 2012, The European Commission unveiled a draft EU Data Protection Regulation which will supersede the earlier Data Protection Directive of 1995. The EU intends to strengthen online privacy rights and boost Europe's digital economy in the wake of the technological progress and globalisation that has profoundly changed the way our data is collected. Robert Bond, Partner at Speechly Bircham LLP will provide an expert analysis of the draft regulation, and discuss the implications that this will have for Data Publishers.

“The Cookie Law” (otherwise known as the Amendment to the EU’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Directive)
With the year’s grace period now over, the ICO will now be enforcing what has been commonly dubbed “The Cookie Law”. UK websites must offer users opt-in or opt-out consent tools for cookies that pass information about their browsing activities to 3rd parties. Three experts will be with us to give Data Publishers advice, reassurance, and guidance on this troublesome matter!
