Millican makes her debut in this week’s issue with her new ‘View from the sofa’ column and begins with a piece on watching TV with Twitter.

Other regular columnists in the magazine include Radio 4 broadcaster Eddie Mair, film critic Barry Norman, writer and broadcaster Andrew Collins.

Radio Times Editor Ben Preston said: “Sarah is that rare thing, a comedian who is genuinely warm and optimistic about life, wonderfully funny and a gifted writer. And she knows - and loves - her telly too.”

Meanwhile, the Radio Times Diamond Jubilee special edition, which featured a specially-commissioned Peter Blake portrait of the Queen on the cover, increased weekly swales by over 30,000 copies.
