ShortList has launched a competition encouraging its readers to pen a successful sitcom.
The ‘Sitcom Search’ has been put together in conjunction with Big Talk Productions and Comedy Central UK and offers the winner the chance to win a £5,000 development deal with the channel.
Readers will be encouraged to work in teams, and will be asked to submit a 3-10 page script, along with a brief description of the idea for their show.
The competition is open for 12 weeks and will be promoted via the ShortList magazine and website and via Comedy Central.
ShortList Editor Martin Robinson said: “We love to encourage ShortList readers to get creative, and this competition offers a unique opportunity to turn their sitcom ideas into a reality.
“This country is at the centre of a comedy boom at present, and the sitcom scene is particularly strong.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Big Talk and Comedy Central UK on this exciting competition, and I can’t wait to read the entries.”
