It is the second Real Women issue produced by the IPC Southbank title and does not feature any professional models or celebrities.

Content for the issue was a collaboration between the Essentials team and seven reader guest editors, who are also pictured on the cover.

Editor Jules Barton-Breck said: “Our first Real Women special last year was a great success and from that point on we’ve featured only readers on our covers.

"Essentials’ positive tone and mix of affordable and inspiring content is perfect for these times and readers love that the magazine is all about them. With the seven reader guest editors on board, this second Real Women issue is going to be an even bigger hit.”

Publisher Kate Mowatt added: “The celebration of the reader is at the heart of the magazine’s success and has helped us secure exceptionally strong circulation growth.”

In the latest round of ABCs, Essentials increased circulation by 9.9 per cent year-on-year.

The Real Women special issue hits newsstands today (September 1) and a video of how the issue was produced is available below.
