Briefing note on web accessibility now available

Representatives from the AOP technical group met with the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) last month to discuss the implications of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) for web publishers and clarify how AOP and PPAi members can ensure they are following the correct procedures.

Government recycling campaign to flag paper

The second wave of Recycle Now TV ads promoting the recycling of paper, cans and glass will start on Boxing Day to build on the earlier TV ad campaign which launched in September 2004.  As PPA Update went to press, the ads were still being finalised and the transmissions schedule is due to be posted on www.recyclenowpartners.org.uk

Levin to succeed Hollick at UBM

United Business Media (UBM) has announced that David Levin will succeed Lord Hollick as CEO from 5 April 2005. Levin, currently CEO of Symbian, has extensive experience of international markets having worked in the Far East, the US and Europe.

Middle East conference brings publishers to Dubai

Aroon Purie, the editor-in-chief and chief executive of The India Today Group and Gavin O'Reilly, the group chief operating officer of Independent News & Media, are among the international publishers who will address the inaugural Middle East publishing conference, to be held in Dubai on 17 and 18 January 2005.

New B2B mapping study in the pipeline

PPA will be leading the business information community in helping the DTI and the industry better understand its size and structure. A B2B mapping study will be conducted by NOP World on behalf of the Business Information Forum from January to February 2005.

New Year's honours list available to PPA members

The New Year's honours list will be available to PPA members from 12 noon on 30 December, under embargo until midnight. An electronic version will be available from the Press Association website and the BBC website after midnight.
