Analyst raises UK online ad spend forecast

Enders Analysis has revised its forecast for online advertising spend in anticipation of improved market conditions in 2010.

The research firm predicted online ad revenues in the UK in 2010 would increase by 7.6 per cent year-on-year to £3,685m.

Enders estimates that online ad spend in 2009 grew 2.2 per cent to £3,425m, accounting for 23.5 per cent of the total advertising market.

Enders said the online advertising market would be helped in 2010 by strong revenue performances from Facebook and Google UK, which it expects to increase gross revenue by 12.5 per cent compared with 2009.

However, the potential impact of tax rises and cuts in Government spending continued to pose a threat to “the already anaemic recovery”, Enders said.
