A freelance journalist since 2002 specialising in psychological health, she previously held senior editorial positions at Hearst and News UK. Sally is also a qualified therapist who works in private practice and has been a freelance contributor to Therapy Today since 2017.

Therapy Today is direct-mailed to BACP’s 52,000 members 10 times a year. Since 2017, the print title has been published by publishing agency Think. Written by and for practitioners, researchers, educationalists and academics, Therapy Today includes critical and reflective thinking on counselling and psychotherapy in their political and social contexts.

Sally took the role in January with her first issue, April, published on March 26. The previous editor, Catherine Jackson, will remain as a freelance contributor to the magazine.

Sally said: “When I started my freelance career, I specialised in health, but found myself drawn to writing about psychological and emotional health and wellbeing. Training as a therapist was a natural progression, and it helped diversify my career at a time when digital changed the face of freelance journalism. The position of editor of Therapy Today perfectly combines my established skills as a journalist and my newer career as a therapist.
