Online Comedy Sensation Backs Government and Industry Campaign Supporting Creativity

Munya Chawawa and his comedy characters are encouraging 16-24 year olds to support the content they love by by getting the content they love from genuine sites.

A new film just released sees Munya welcome viewers into the flat he shares with characters that his fans will recognise; Unknown P, Barty Crease and Jonny Oliver to celebrate the great content that has helped get all of us through lockdown.

Whether it was online video games meaning Unknown P could maintain a social life with his friends, nature documentaries putting Barty Crease in touch with his greener side, or Jonny Oliver sound tracking his home workouts with his favourite music – all discuss how great content, from genuine sites, has seen them through the last few months.

The campaign from Get It Right celebrates the output of the creative industries that have been a lifeline to millions throughout the tough times of lockdown. From the TV show we’ve all been talking about to a game that connects you with your friends, the value of entertainment to put a smile on our faces and create conversations is clear.

But more than that, intellectual property industries, like film, music, television and computer software, are central to the health and stability of the UK economy. The UK’s creative industry supports around 2.8 million UK jobs each year, contributes about £18 billion in exports around the world and contributes about £10 million per hour to the UK economy.

The new campaign aims to demonstrate the positive impact that the industries have on so many and encourage people to support them by sourcing the content they love from safe and genuine sites. Visit https://www.getitrightfromagenuinesite.org/ for a full list of genuine sites.

Munya Chawawa, comedian, commented: “People have needed to be entertained throughout lockdown, and great box sets, films, music, sports and books delivered for them.

“But while enjoying the third episode of a show you’ve watched back to back on the sofa or listening to a playlist as you get ready in the morning – it’s easy to forget the work involved. From runners and extras to set designers and sound technicians – hundreds of people put time and love into making it happen.

“With the tough times we’ve all faced, it has never been more important time to support those that have delivered for us, by getting your content from a genuine site.”
