This was a chance for PPA members to welcome in the new PPA Chairman, Tom Bureau CEO of Immediate Media and give thanks to Marcus Rich, CEO of TI Media for his four-year tenure as firstly Chairman and now Deputy Chairman at the end of this year.

In his speech, PPA CEO Barry McIlheney said: "I have been very fortunate to have served now under six great PPA Chairmen, in the shape of Charles Reed, the late and much-missed Kevin Hand, Kevin Costello, James Tye, Marcus Rich, and now of course Immediate Media Chief Executive Tom Bureau, whom we are officially welcoming into the hot seat here tonight.

"It has been a real pleasure for me to serve under Marcus, to learn from him, and to really benefit from his wonderful support both professional and personal over these last few years. And all this while he has had the challenging and ultimately successful task of leading TI Media into its exciting new chapter of brand new ownership."

In his first address as PPA Chairman, Tom Bureau said: "We are at the start of an exciting new decade and a time of change for the PPA with a new Chairman and new leadership after Barry's exceptional work steering the PPA ship over the last 10 years.

"These gatherings are a reminder of the strength and breadth of our industry. Across consumer, business and customer publishing, the PPA is the place we all come together to celebrate our great industry and work together to secure its future.

"And now, perhaps more than ever, we need a united voice. With the threats and opportunities presented by Brexit, the dawning of a new regulatory landscape in the digital economy, and imperative on all of us to continue improving sustainability, the PPA Team are working hard on our behalf every day."
