PPA Scottish Magazine Awards 2020 open for entries

The PPA Scottish Magazine Awards have today opened for entries, with an array of categories to celebrate the broad range of achievement in the publishing industry in the last year.

The 2020 Awards come as the country is still reeling from the coronavirus crisis, but offer an opportunity to recognise the fleet-footed response of Scottish professional publishers.

This year, a new special award has been launched to highlight the magazine that has shown exceptional innovation in their response to the challenges of COVID-19. The Best Initiative in Response to COVID-19 Award will reward the best reactive initiative by a Scottish magazine media brand.

Also new for this year is the Best Podcast category – a reflection of the rapid growth of podcasts as an additional platform by which publishers can reach their audiences.

PPA Scotland Business Manager Laura Dunlop said this year’s awards have a special significance.

“This year, more than ever, magazine teams all over the country have gone above and beyond to continue to inform and entertain. Working in difficult circumstances, and with logistical and commercial challenges, they have continued to produce exceptional work.

“As the premier awards ceremony for the industry in Scotland, the PPA Scottish Magazine Awards are a fantastic opportunity to applaud their achievements,” she added.

In order to help companies recognise as many of their teams as possible, this year the awards will offer five entries for the price of three.

“We hope this will help professional publishers to spread the love,” said Dunlop.
