The Empire Film Podcast comes to Edinburgh International Magazine Festival

The award-winning Empire Film Podcast will visit the Scottish capital this September, as part of the inaugural Edinburgh International Magazine Festival.

Run by PPA Scotland, the Edinburgh International Magazine Festival is the first event of its kind – a week-long celebration of magazines running from September 16-22. It will feature talks, workshops, debates, interviews, podcast recordings, tours and even live music.

The Empire Film Podcast will be at the Festival on September 19, at the Cameo Picturehouse.

Host of the Empire Podcast Chris Hewitt said: “We’re delighted to bring the Empire Podcast to the Edinburgh International Magazine Festival, not least because it’s a celebration of some of our favourite things: Edinburgh, magazines, and festivals.

"We hope to show that podcasts can be an excellent companion to their mothership magazine, and we look forward to entertaining a small portion of the population of Edinburgh with no-holds-barred movie chat and silly voices.”

Edinburgh International Magazine Festival Director Laura Dunlop added: “The very first Edinburgh International Magazine Festival is shaping up to be an incredibly special week.

“Adding the Empire Film Podcast to our line-up is a particular pleasure for me, as it is among my personal listening favourites. The humour, passion and insight that the team bring to the podcast is a fantastic example of magazine giving that bit extra to their readers. I’m so pleased that their Scotland-based readership – me included – will have the opportunity to hear from them in person at the gorgeous Cameo Picturehouse.”

The Edinburgh International Magazine Festival has grown out of PPA Scotland’s much-loved industry gathering, Magfest, which has been bringing together the best voices and ideas from the magazine community for eight years.

This year’s Magfest takes place at Central Hall Edinburgh on September 20 and will feature a wide range of top speakers, including Ella Dolphin, CEO of The Stylist Group; James Brown, Editor-in-Chief of FourFourTwo; Charlie Brinkhurst-Cuff, Head of Editorial at gal-dem; and Sonny Dhamu, Inside Housing's Art Director.
